Michigan Medicine

Medical and Nursing leaders in Michigan Medicine’s Medical and Therapy Subsegment (MTS) often move into leadership from primarily clinical roles, creating uneven readiness in areas such as finance, operations, payroll, people management, communication, and leadership in a unionized environment. This project will help MTS define a practical and scalable way to assess current leader readiness, identify individual and subsegment-wide capability gaps, evaluate existing development resources, and recommend a more structured, role-specific onboarding and professional development framework for future leaders. The project will focus on the current MTS leader population as a pilot and deliver an actionable, development-oriented model that strengthens leader preparation and long-term operational effectiveness while staying realistic within Michigan Medicine’s existing systems, resources, and time constraints.
