Raed Al Kontar

Raed Al Kontar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial & Operations Engineering at the University of Michigan. His research focuses on personalized, collaborative, and distributed data analytics, with an emphasis on effectively integrating knowledge from diverse data sources. His work is currently supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), including a 2022 CAREER Award, as well as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Library of Medicine (NLM), and various industry collaborators. He is a recipient of the 2026 ASQ Feigenbaum Medal and the 2026 SME Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award. Since 2021, his research has received 15 best paper awards across leading professional societies, including the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), the American Statistical Association (ASA), and the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE). Dr. Al Kontar earned his undergraduate degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from the American University of Beirut in 2014, and his M.S. in Statistics (2017) and Ph.D. in Industrial & Systems Engineering (2018) from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
