David L. Kaufman, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Decision Sciences at the University of Michigan-Dearborn College of Business. Professor Kaufman teaches business analytics, including machine learning, statistics, and management science. His expertise lies in decision-making under uncertainty, optimization, and risk management. He previously worked in industry on product development at RiskMetrics Group. His research focuses on stochastic processes and decision models for systems where variability and uncertainty play a central role. He studies the optimization of sequential decisions, with applications in production and manufacturing, dynamic control of queueing systems, healthcare delivery operations, and medical decision-making. He holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and physics from Bethel College.
