Brian Denton is the Stephen M. Pollock Professor of Industrial and Operations Engineering (IOE) at the University of Michigan. His research interests are in data-driven decision-making, artificial intelligence, and optimization under uncertainty with applications to healthcare delivery, public health, scheduling, supply chain management, and other industrial systems. He was a visiting professor and fellow at Oxford University during the 2023 academic year. He served as department chair of IOE from 2018-2023. Before joining the University of Michigan, he worked at IBM, Mayo Clinic, and North Carolina State University. His honors and awards include the INFORMS George Kimball Medal, the National Science Foundation Career Award, and the INFORMS Daniel H. Wagner Prize. He has co-authored over 140 journal articles, conference proceedings, book chapters, and patents. He is an elected Fellow of INFORMS and IISE, and past President of INFORMS.
