Tauber welcomes new Industry Advisory Board member



Ann Arbor, MI – Target Group Vice President Jordan Kettner joins representatives from a diverse selection of the world's top corporations as a member of the Tauber Institute for Global Operations Industry Advisory Board. The Industry Advisory Board's objective: to cultivate future leaders in operations through support of the Tauber Institute's multidisciplinary experiential learning mission.

Jordan Kettner is a Group Vice President in Target’s global supply chain and logistics organization, specializing in field operations.  In this role, he provides leadership oversight to six regional distribution centers, two fulfillment centers, and import warehouses in Texas, Kansas, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington.  His key responsibilities include developing talented leaders to drive business goals in the safest and most accurate manner, ensuring stores remain in stock, and that guest orders are met without issue. Prior to this role, Jordan served as an interim Group Vice President over seven distribution centers in the Midwest region.

Jordan has excelled in leading large teams to deliver both cultural and best-in-class results.  He has been responsible for the development of leaders to the next level and led multiple cultural turnarounds across many different business units that he has overseen. He is well versed in multiple aspects of continuous improvement; from Gemba, Glass Wall, and A3 problem-solving development.  He leads through balanced leadership of both teams and business-critical results

Jordan has a total of 19 years of service with Target.  He started out as an assistant manager in Target’s Stores Organization in the West Michigan area and progressively took on elevated roles.  He ran multiple stores across Michigan as a Store Director, from opening a new site to complex high-volume sites. Previous to coming to GSCL, Jordan was a District Store Director in South Metro Detroit/SE Michigan responsible for all aspects of team and business results for 11 stores.  He then transitioned to the Global Supply Chain Organization and was the Senior Director in the Iowa Regional Distribution Center leading Target’s first large automation site. 

The Tauber Institute brings together graduate students from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business and College of Engineering to gain operations expertise and leadership skills, then work together at sponsoring companies around the world, tackling diverse operations challenges in industries such as aerospace, energy, internet commerce, automotive manufacturing, tech, and healthcare. In dozens of collaborative projects with industry each year, the Tauber Institute applies cutting-edge operations theory to real-world problems, saving sponsoring companies millions of dollars through increased efficiency and waste reduction, and often simultaneously improving working conditions and reducing environmental impact.

Input from the Industry Advisory Board ensures that the Tauber Institute stays at the forefront of operations education and responds quickly to industry needs. The board meets twice a year with Tauber Institute leadership and represents a diverse group of organizations. Offering guidance consistent with the program's mission and objectives, the Industry Advisory Board actively assists the Tauber Institute in achieving its academic and research goals through industry leadership, cooperation, feedback, and acquisition of financial support.

The Tauber Institute for Global Operations is a joint venture between the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and Michigan Engineering, working together with industry partners to facilitate cross-disciplinary education in global operations management.
