Angela Kohlenberg is an Assistant Professor of Technology and Operations at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan. She received her PhD in Operations Management at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Prior to pursuing a PhD, she held analyst and management positions in the public sector, where she used data analytics and operations tools such as forecasting, simulation, and process flow analysis to improve service delivery and decision-making related to urban planning. Her research focuses on dynamic matching markets in which both demand and supply arrive and depart over time, including organ exchange programs, ride-hailing platforms, and perishable inventory systems such as blood and food banks. She examines how operational decisions such as match timing and priority affect performance, including utilization, wait times, abandonment, and fairness, and develops interpretable policies that improve outcomes.
