Siqian Shen is a Professor in the Department of Industrial and Operations Engineering (IOE), with a joint appointment in Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, and an Associate Director for Michigan Institute for Computational Discovery and Engineering (MICDE). Her research focuses on theories of stochastic and robust optimization, integer programming, and network optimization, with applications in energy, transportation, and infrastructure systems. Siqian serves in the editorial boards of Operations Research, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, IISE Transactions, Transportation Science, European Journal of Operational Research, Networks, INFORMS Journal on Computing, and several other journals. She served as a Program Director in the National Science Foundation, ENG/CMMI Division from 2023 to 2025. Siqian has received several recognitions and awards, including the 2024 NSF Director’s Award for Superior Accomplishment (Group), 2017 US Department of Energy (DoE) Early Career Award, 2012 IBM Smarter Planet Innovation Faculty Award, and several best paper prizes from INFORMS, IEEE, and IISE. She is a Richard Wilson Faculty Scholar in IOE and is a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE).
