Project Timing

The standard 2026 project dates will be May 18 - August 7, 2026 (12 weeks). While all projects will remain at 12 weeks, sponsors have the flexibility to set the start date up to two weeks earlier (either May 4 or May 11) or up to two weeks later (either May 25 or June 1), as long as this is identified in the project proposal application. Please indicate either your agreement with the standard project timing (May 18 - August 7, 2026) or whether your company will be selecting an alternative start date (subject to Tauber approval).

Student Salaries are in addition to the project fee and are ultimately at the discretion of the sponsor. Will your company be able to meet the following Tauber Institute salary guidelines? Note: Guidelines are based on UM Ross School of Business & College of Engineering career office averages in USD & paid directly to students)

Students with 4+ years of work experience: minimum $2,100 and median $2,700 weekly
Students with greater than 2 years and less than 4 years of work experience: minimum $1,800 and median $2,400 weekly
Students with less than 2 years of work experience: minimum $1,500 and median $2,100 weekly

Alternative Compensation Ranges
If your organization is unable to meet the salary guidelines, please provide your organization's compensation ranges for summer interns at the following experience levels:

Students Hired As Employees?

Project Fee
The current Tauber Institute project fee* is:

$30,000 with a signed Letter of Intent (LOI) and a deposit of $5,000 submitted by August 31st
$35,000 with a proposal submitted by November 1st
$40,000 with a proposal submitted after Nov. 1st and before December 15th

Note: The project fee covers resources dedicated to the project and supports programming for students including:

Compensation for two U-M faculty advisors
Team coaches
Tauber Institute leadership training

*The project fee does not cover student salaries.
