Dan Grieshaber was appointed Director, Global Manufacturing Engineering Integration in May 2011. In this position, Dan is responsible for integrating activities across General Motors Global Manufacturing Engineering Centers – Body Systems, Vehicle Systems, Powertrain Systems, and Manufacturing Planning. Critical Business functions managed include global manufacturing capital forecasting/balancing and advanced manufacturing engineering strategy.  Manufacturing Engineering functions managed include ergonomics, plant layout, assembly documentation, manufacturing throughput analysis/optimization, and data/information security.

Prior to his current position, Dan has held a number of executive leadership positions within General Motors including Director Global Die & Press Center, Director North American Manufacturing Strategy & Planning, Director Product Engineering/Body Structures, and Director Die Engineering.

Dan started his career at General Motors as a co-op student in 1983 at the General Motors Technical Center, developing early CAD/CAM applications for engineering and manufacturing.  Dan was part of one of the initial co-op classes at the University of Michigan. In 1993, Dan became the Group Manager of Primary & Secondary Forming within the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Staff, responsible for development and implementation of technologies to enable a total math-based process for engineering, design and manufacture of stamping dies.  In 1994, Dan transferred to the operating side of the company to put these technologies to work, joining the Metal Fabricating Division.  From 1994 to the present, Dan has progressed through a series of jobs with increasing responsibility, including brief assignments in both Germany and Brazil, along with management of global teams based in Germany, Brazil, South Korea, China and the United States.

Dan earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1985 and a Master’s Degree, also in Mechanical Engineering, from the University of Minnesota in 1986. Dan is the author of several technical papers, and the recipient of 3 Chairman Honors Awards, one of General Motors Highest Honors.
