What’s the most important thing to remember in business?
If you make others successful, then your success will follow. I have spent my career focused on delivering outstanding results to my stakeholders (internal & external clients). This has been a successful strategy for me and led to a rewarding career.
What has been the most challenging aspect of your career?
Over the course of 30 years, I have been through several career transitions that were out of my control. Chances are, you will too, as good people can be unlucky and find themselves looking for a new opportunity. But in every case, I ended up with a much better role and gained invaluable experience. So, if you ever find yourself in a similar situation, don’t get discouraged. Use it as an opportunity to springboard your career into a new and exciting adventure.
What first drew you to the University of Michigan?
The winged helmets. My little high school in upstate NY had the same uniforms as the wolverines. I played on the football team and naturally became a UM sports fan even though I had no connections to the university. And of course UM had a top ten MBA program. A perfect match! I never even visited the campus before committing to attend, but I just knew I would love it there.
How did your Tauber experience shape the professional that you are now?
I was super lucky to get an international summer internship working in China. I had limited experiences outside of the US, so it was an amazing opportunity and I gained a love for working globally. Since then I have been very fortunate to work internationally on an extensive basis and had large teams working for me in Europe, India, and China. Having that opportunity through Tauber gave me the passion and experience to set me on an amazing journey.
What would fellow alums be surprised to know about you?
I have a leadership role in the supply chain, but I never held a single role within the profession. I spent twelve years in management consulting and then went directly into a Vice President role. I have been faking my experience for over 10 years now!
