James VanSlambrouck is currently director - Americas quality, Ford Motor Company -- an executive leadership position he has held since 2012.
James began his career at Ford in 1979 as a co-op student in automotive body design. He attended night school from 1979 to 1992 in order to complete his college education. At the same time, he held positions of increasing responsibility at Ford – progressing through design, engineering, product planning, and launch. He was appointed plant vehicle team manager at Kentucky Truck Plant in 1997. Since returning to Michigan in 2000, he continued to serve in positions of increasing responsibility, including: CAD Manager, Chief Engineer in various engineering departments, and Director.
He is currently serving his second term as the Ford representative on the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) Board of Directors, which will conclude in 2016. Jim is also serving on the Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit Board. He serves on the Industry Advisory Board of the Tauber Institute for Global Operations at the University of Michigan. He is a past president of the American Society of Body Engineers: a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering the design profession, and encouraging students to succeed in their professional development. He is also past president of parish council at his church.
James holds a B.S. in Engineering Management from Lawrence Technological University, and an MBA from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor.
